Frequently Asked Questions

What is MyHuddle?

MyHuddle is an online platform that connects student-athletes to sport psychology coaches via text and video chat. Each athlete is matched to their own MyHuddle coach and gains personalized support and guidance in three key ways:

  1. Live video sessions: athletes get live 1:1 online video sessions with their MyHuddle coach

  2. Unlimited text messaging: athletes talk with their MyHuddle coach anytime, anywhere (M-F) via text

  3.  MyHuddle tips: weekly tips to improve your mental performance sent right to your phone via text

How does MyHuddle™ work?

We've designed MyHuddle™ to be easy and convenient. To get started, we'll first conduct a free, no-strings-attached welcome session with you and your athlete to learn more about your goals and needs. Next, we'll help you choose the plan to fit your goals and match your athlete to the MyHuddle™ coach right for them. The athlete receives an intro message from their coach and coaching on MyHuddle™ begins.

What areas can MyHuddle™ help with?

MyHuddle coaches specialize in working with high school and college athletes to develop mental skills and strategies to improve performance in sport as well as in life. Areas that our coaches address include but are not limited to:

  • Managing stress and performance anxiety

  • Improving concentration and focus

  • Recovering from injury

  • Setting short- and long-term goals

  • Increasing and maintaining motivation

  • Building self-confidence

  • Improving communication

  • Developing healthy habits and routines

My athlete doesn’t have an issue. Is MyHuddle still right for them?

Yes! Student-athletes do not need to have an ‘issue’ for MyHuddle to make sense. Rather, we work with student-athletes through both the highs and lows. We focus on both improving performance in the now and proactively equipping student-athletes with mental skills, like self-confidence and resilience, to persevere through future challenges they may face in their sport and life.

Who is MyHuddle for?

MyHuddle is right for high school and college athletes at all levels - from those looking to play pro to those looking to get more joy out of sports. Athletes must be at least 13 years of age and minors require parental consent.

What makes MyHuddle™ different?

At MyHuddle™, we understand the busy, demanding life of a student-athlete. That’s why we designed the platform to be accessible wherever and whenever athletes need it most. MyHuddle coaches are invested first and foremost in the health and wellbeing of your athlete.

Who are the MyHuddle coaches?

We are working to build the most qualified network of sport psychology professionals in the US. This includes specialists like PhD-level sport psychologists, Masters-level sport psychology consultants, and Certified Mental Performance Coaches. All coaches go through a formal screening process, are experienced in working with student-athletes, and many were former competitive athletes themselves. We will match your athlete to their MyHuddle coach based on their needs, goals, and coach preferences. If you start the process and you feel your MyHuddle coach isn't a good fit, you may elect to be matched to a different coach.

How much does MyHuddle cost?

We believe that cost should not be a barrier to access sport psychology for student-athletes. Our average cost is up to 50% that found in private practice for similar services. We are able to reduce prices while improving the availability of quality sport psychology specialists by delivering our services online.

MyHuddle is a membership service with a weekly subscription. All of our memberships are automatically charged on a weekly basis. There are no contracts and you can cancel your plan at anytime. As a parent, how am I involved when my athlete is using MyHuddle?

Please join your athlete on the welcome session and introductory call with the coach. Once sign up is complete, the coach works directly with the athlete via text and video chat. This provides the athlete with a judgment-free space for self-expression and greater ownership of their athletic journey. If parents has concerns, questions, or feedback to share, please email hello@joinmyhuddle.com and a member of our team will offer assistance.

Do you provide therapy?

No, we do not provide licensed therapy. MyHuddle coaches are not therapists or medical doctors.  In cases of emergency, call 911. If you're experiencing a clinical or long-term issue, see a medical professional.

How often should athletes communicate with their MyHuddle coach?

In short, it's up to the athlete. If an athlete texts their MyHuddle coach, they can expect a reply at least 2-3 times per day Monday - Friday. Responses will be often within minutes but at most a 24 delay Monday - Friday. The video coaching sessions occur according to the membership plan selected (biweekly or weekly) and are scheduled when it's convenient for the student-athlete. Student-athletes may also receive check-ins and tips from their MyHuddle coach via text. Responding to these texts is available but optional.
